Creosote Bush Factoids
There is more to Creosote
than a Þne smell following the
rare monsoon rain.
The Creosote Bush gall
pictured at the top of the next
page is fairly common on
Creosote Bushes found in the
hills to the east of Hillsboro.
A search of BugGuide on 28
June 2025 yielded similar
photographs but none of the
midge larva which caused it.
Several species in the genus
Asphondylia form galls on
Creosote, including A.
resinosa (the Creosote Resin
Gall Midge), A. ßorea (shown
at the bottom left on the next
