upper Cottonwood Canyon rimmed on the west side by
the Chalk Hills. These grasslands have recovered from
the previous intensive grazing of domestic livestock
since the U. S. Army took management authority over
the mountains beginning in 1945.

Hardscrabble Mountain. Jeff Augustine is on the right
side. Jeff was a wildlife biologist who worked with us
on the puma study.
